MEETING OF SAT 30 AUG

This meeting was a bit different from the usual. We had an equal number of children and adults. We decided to kick off with dinner as certain people were on the brink of starvation. The children needless to say were quite happy to oblige. Some of us sat outside and watched the beautiful sunset whilst eating our dinner. JJ and Aldi led us in worship which was also different from the usual but really beautiful. Jenni was the facilitator for the evening but it felt like the Holy Spirit hijacked the meeting. It is so important that we listen to Him and allow Him to lead our times of fellowship. He definitely had a theme. We prayed together and encouraged each other with prophetic words and scriptures which was beautiful. We spoke about the purity of God's love for us and that how we as His children water it down in the way that we would water down a good perfume. Queen Esther soaked herself in oils for six months and perfumes for a further six months in preparation for her King. In the same way we need to soak ourselves in the perfume/fragrance of His presence, in the purity of His love. The evening made me aware of how privileged we are to be able to sit at our Lord's feet and have Him minister to us. We felt Him reminding us to take our eyes off all the things in the world and gaze into His face and receive His grace. We need to keep our eyes on Him.

DOES GOD HIDE OUR CALLING AND HOW DO WE FIND IT? SAT 23 AUG

We had a great time of fellowship on Saturday night, worshipping together, discussing, learning and sharing a meal. It is great to do things simply like Jesus did. The discussion was about whether God hides our calling from us and how to find it. As usual, things became a bit clearer as the discussion ensued. The red, yellow and blue roads popped up again which makes for very interesting discussion. Some of the conclusions we reached were as follows. God doesn't require us to be perfect to start the journey. He puts us in the journey to perfect us. Hearing His voice is extremely important. Being obedient in the small things will lead to your calling. God will reveal a bit at a time and we must be obedient to that. The reason that we "feel" God is "hiding our calling" is because we have not been exposed to enough as yet or we are not mature enough. Once we have He will reveal more. With regards to finding our call we need to a) have a world christian prayer life b) be in a caravan of like-minded people going in the same direction c) do something by putting our hand to the plough d) keep on using your telescope of vision. Once again, we all left with a lot of food for thought.

Tuesday

Wow we're back into worldview - Meeting of 16 Aug

Worship was led by the Bates family. Marlene shared her experiences on the Biblical World View & Great Commission courses she attended in Cape Town by using her photo’s as reminders of all the aspects covered. Following this we discussed the different experiences from our pancake making visit to the squatter camps. I wish I could explain the amazing realisation that came out of the discussions. I guess in a nutshell, when we stick our necks out God teaches us, inturn that which we learn is more than money can buy. All of a sudden we realised the value of knowing how worldview guides our every behaviour. When looking for direction check out your worldview map, it will soon give you a compass bearing for you to continue the journey. Will some of us become involved full time with the squatters? Well this may be possible, but what is sure is that if we wish to invest we now have a better idea of how to.

Monday

Pancake Saturday

Not quite as well reknown as Blue Monday, Black Friday or Lazy Sunday
but most certainly a day to remember!
Brand new and feeling just a little on the 'spare' side...
Starting to get into the swing of things....
Looks like it's gonna be quite a show!
And they're off!
Pancakes pancakes everywhere...
Yeah, we start 'em young!

New friends

Still going... more pancakes, 18 liters later!

"Pannekoeksusters"

The same sun that sets on us in our comfortable homes, our neat gardens , smart cars , 2nd cars, sets on these people who live with so little and less....

Great Quotes of Saturday Evening

"If God has called you to be a missionary, your father would be grieved for you to shrivel down into a King." Charles Spurgeon.

"She may not promise to love and honour if she will not also promise to obey: and 'till her love reaches that point of surrender she must remain an unsatisfied lover - she cannot, as a satisfied bride, find rest in the home of her Husband. While she retains her own will and the control of her own possessions, she must be content to live on her own resources; she cannot claim His." - Hudson Taylor's thoughts on the Songs of Solomon.

"The real secret to an unsatified life, lies too often in an unsurrendered will. - Hudson Taylor.

1 Samuel 10: 7 Once these signs are fulfilled do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you.

Only one life, it will soon be past. Only what is done for Christ will last.

SATURDAY 2 AUGUST

Alison facilitated that Saturday night,
A great time was had, it just felt so right.
We discussed the Jews and how they break bread,
The meanings behind it are symbolic we said.

We all need a saviour and Jesus paid that price,
We spent time in prayer which was so nice.
Breaking bread together is what followed on,
All this was done in the name of His son.

Thank you Jesus for taking our sin and our shame,
For clothing us with your Glory and your Name.
Help us to live a life worthy of you,
And to fulfill all the things that you have for us too.

Aldi then shared with us where she is at,
Problems with "church", wow, that started a chat.
It soon appeared others struggled with this too,
Rita gave us some wisdom on what we should do.

The questions were valid and some oh so true,
Do we follow the many or go with the few.
They ranged from obeying man-made rules or our God,
And exposing our children to things that are odd.

We discussed and debated,
Until we were sated.
But the thing that was true and we did all agree,
Was that mindsets must change to some degree.

Ansie, our sister then shared her pain,
Her Gran is sick and we called on His name.
We gathered around her and prayed up a storm,
We encouraged and loved as that is the norm.

Marlene told us a story of hearing his voice,
And how obeying it, is also a choice.
She was so busy and had no time,
She gave it to God and he gave her a line.

We all shared our stories and struggles too,
Some had many and some just a few.
We got sound advice and wisdom that night,
This we'll all need to reach the next height.
