Week of 26 July: Kingdom Economics vs World Economics

Is God’s economics any different from the world’s economics? What is His currency? Is it Love, Peace, Faith, Servanthood or maybe the souls of people? If this is it, we need to apply servanthood because that is exactly what Jesus did. Consider asking yourself what your motivation or attitude is behind servanthood because the world always requires some kind of gain – interest earned, capital gains, etc. – while servanthood is more a “dying to self” kind of dynamic. Funny how this brought us back to last week’s topic which is summed up in Matthews 6:33 – “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all the rest will be added unto you.”

Are you prepared to seek first the kingdom? Are you prepared to "go to point zero"? Are you prepared to go on with less and spend more on the kingdom? Are you ready (willing) to trust God? Are you preparing the ground for rain, so that God can provide the rest? Let’s journey …

… to get there JP emphasized the importance of the following:

1 A world Christian prayer life
2 Apply yourself to something
3 Become part of a group of people that are going in the same direction as you
4 Continually apply the telescope to find your calling.

Let’s face it, we are aliens in this world because the economics of our Heavenly Father is so different to that of the world. And we are so lucky because God is more interested in us than our money. Everything belongs to Him anyway and we are His children.

  1. I really enjoyed Saturday night. I found Marlene's testimony inspirational. You see it can be done. We can scale down in the way we live and the time we spend on work and give more to God's Kingdom. It is awesome to see this dynamic playing out in people's lives. We really are "aliens" here on earth and we are ambassadors for God's Kingdom.

  2. I was also encouraged by Mercy's testimony. She has learnt a lot of stuff in her time as a missionary. Being dependent on God, patient but when God says Go! she goes. And that discipleship is required, not just people giving their hearts to the Lord for a couple of nice songs...
